flight

In scary times, we might feel like we have to run away, even on a spaceship to another planet, to be all alone. This feeling, called flight, it’s good for running from a scary alien!

But if you spend too much time alone without sharing why you’re scared, it can make you feel lonely. Try talking to a trusted adult and spending time with people you feel safe, so you don’t feel so alone.

fight

Comets are very fast and burn very hot. If something is upsetting or doesn’t go how we want, we can very quickly become angry and feel like we have to shout or stomp our feet or even hit someone.

Take deep breaths so you can think more clearly. If you feel like you’re still going to hurt someone, it’s a good idea to walk away and find a trusted adult who can help you feel calmer.

fawn

When we’re very scared, we can sometimes feel like we have to do something even if we don’t want to. Just like in an eclipse, when we fawn, we’re hiding what we really feel behind what someone else wants.

If you feel like this, it’s very important that you talk honestly to a trusted adult who can help keep you safe so you’re less scared. So you can feel brave to say what you think more often.

freeze

Europa looks very still on top, but underneath the ice, there are huge ocean waves. In scary times, our body might feel stuck but inside we don’t feel good and want to move.

Try focusing on something you can see, then a smell and then a sound. When you can, take deep breaths and try moving something small like a finger! When you don’t feel stuck, find a trusted adult to talk to.
